Marketing Services

There are two ways to market your site and your company online – the right way, and the wrong way. The wrong way is to use misleading and unscrupulous ways to present a misleading impression of your site. This method can work with search engines for a period of time, but will ultimately lead to your site being blacklisted by many search engines and directories.

What's the right way? Using the expertise of the Times Web Design staff.

TopSpot Keywords Advertising
TopSpot Keywords Advertising is a pay-per-click (PPC) management solution we offer our clients on select search engines, including Google, Overture, Yahoo!, MSN, AltaVista, Infoseek, Terra Lycos, CNET, Infospace, and NetZero.

With traditional, free search engine submission, advertisers submit their Web sites, which are then indexed and ranked based on a number of different factors. This process is time consuming, and it often takes many months to see results – with no guarantee of top placement. With PPC search engine listings, the listing process can take as little as 3 days, and advertisers can determine the placement of their listing within the search results, depending on how much they are willing to pay. And you only pay when customers click on the link to your site!

PPC advertising is one of the quickest, easiest and most cost-effective methods available to promote your site. We manage your account for you based on your fixed monthly budget. With well-chosen keywords, you can get your listings in front of people who are looking for your services. And we maximize your return, by constantly monitoring your bidding, so that you don’t pay more than you should for your positioning. This package includes:

- Monitoring of your positioning and bidding
- Monthly report on how many times your listings have been displayed/clicked on
- Minimum commitment of $50 USD/month for clicks
- $49.95/month for Google Adwords
- $79.95/month for Overture Pay-Per-Click
- $89.95/month for both Google/Overture

Promotion FAQ

1. Why do search engines matter for my web site promotion?

Let's look at the top search engine in the world – Google. Currently, there are over 3.3 billion web pages in Google's page index. They respond to over 200 million search queries a day. Other top U.S. search engines see millions of queries a day, too. And if your web site isn't showing up in the first two to three pages of results, you're missing out on visitors to your site – and potential sales.

2. Why use you rather than the "Submit Your Site to Thousands of Search Engines" guys?

The difference is we're not scamming you. The "Thousands" of search engines are usually search engines that aren't applicable (different countries or unrelated specialties) to your business. The large majority of these companies are individuals who use automated submission software.

Not only are these "services" a waste of money; they can actually damage your legitimate positioning efforts. Many search engines consider automated submissions to be a form of spam, and will ban or "blacklist" your site from their database. This is why we submit your site manually. And, they will continue to resubmit your site, which can also damage your listings. We monitor your site's presence in search engine databases, and resubmit when it is appropriate.

3. Should I create "gateway" pages, or similar pages on multiple domains, that have the same info? What about "Link Exchange Programs" advertised by companies?

These are two of the worst things you can do when promoting your site. While these types of tricks used to work in the past, search engines are now highly-complex pieces of software, and are quick to notice this kind of duplication or pseudo-linking. It will only result in your site being banned, or moved so far down in results that it is almost invisible. We don't use any deceptive promotion schemes to position our customer sites – in the end, they can only hurt your business in the long-term.

If you want to succeed in getting your site positioned well on search engines, make sure your site has original and unique content that provides information for your customers, and that your site is updated regularly.

4. Are there any search engines I should pay to submit to?

Our search engine submission services do not include any "paid inclusion" sites. However, there are several that we highly recommend you site be listed on: Yahoo & Inktomi. We are not affiliated with these services, but we would be more than happy to complete the submissions for you. The cost to submit to these two services is approximately $500 CDN per year.

5. Do you optimize my pages for search engine positioning?

We have some effective techniques that we use to make sure search engines are picking up your site with the keywords important to you and your business. We do our optimizing as we develop sites, so your site is ready "out of the gate" for search engines, as well as customers.
